Canada Healthwatch helps Canadians make sense of the health issues that shape their lives with clear and credible reporting and news-curation.
These standards govern every format we publish, from curated stories and commentary to newsletters and sponsored features.
Sponsored pieces must meet the same factual and ethical standards as our editorial work.
They may advance a perspective but never distort evidence.
We encourage sponsored pieces that inform and contextualize, or spark thoughtful dialogue — not those that simply promote a product or brand.
- Clear, and accessible. Jargon minimal. Relevant to Canadians.
- When citing studies, organizations, or experts, sources must be clearly credited. Quotes should be accurate and verifiable.
- Bylines may be attributed to an expert representative of a sponsoring organization or written in the voice of a health-care professional affiliated with the topic.
- We do not accept ghostwritten op-eds with fabricated authorship. If a byline is used, the person named must stand behind the content.
- All content undergoes editorial review to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with our audience standards. We reserve the right to edit, delay, or decline publication if content doesn't meet these criteria.
- Corrections are issued promptly when errors are identified. We disclose all conflicts of interest relevant to our editorial and sponsored work.
- Publication timeline is typically 5–10 business days after final approval.
